… Svalbard 2014 - Wildlife

In June 2014, I joined an expedition to Svalbard deep inside the Arctic Circle with the goal of photographing the wildlife, landscape and settlements.

For a very long time I have wanted to go and see polar bears in their natural habitat so this trip is was a dream come true. When I left one job, my ex-colleagues were at a loss of what to buy me as a leaving present so they adopted a Svalbard Polar Bear for me.

Whilst we only saw polar bears on two occasions and from quite some distance, it was amazing to see them in there natural habitat. In additional to the polar bears, I also managed to photograph reindeer, arctic foxes, wlruses, seals and numerous birds. On the tundra where the snow had melted, some colourful flora was growing.

Other images from this expedition can be found in my Svalbard Settlements and Svalbard Landscapes galleries.
