… London Ice Sculpting Festival 2014

The 6th annual London Ice Sculpting Festival saw ten teams from Africa, Belgium, France, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom & USA competed in three different competitions in front of the crowds at Wood Wharf which is part of Canary Wharf.

Over the weekend, the teams first competed in the "Single Block" competition which required each team to carve a sculpture depicting ‘River Life’. The winners were Brund Fleurit & Max Rutgers from Spain with their sculpture of an "Otter".

Next, the sculptors worked individually into Friday evening to create a "Freestyle" sculpture. The sculptors voted on their favourite creation which was a beautiful "Tiger" sculpted by Burr Rasmussen from USA.

Saturday marked the start of the main competition, the "Big Block" which was a team effort to sculpt a masterpiece on the them of "Fabulous Fashion" from the two ton block of ice measuring 2m x 1.5m x 1m. This competition continued into Sunday until 5pm and produced some amazing sculptures from all the teams.

The judges named Steve Armance & Mario Amegee from Africa as the winners for their sculpture of an elegant woman and her dog. All of the visitors to the festival also got their chance to vote for the "People's Choice" which was won by Anne Marie Taberdo & Mike Kerslake from UK for their sculpture of three ladys undre an umbrella.
