… Chinese New Year 2014 - Year of the Horse

On Chinese New Year's Eve (Thursday 30th January), Stanley TSE, The President of London Chinatown Chinese Association, and Jane Li, Vice President of LCCA, performed a lighting ceremony which illuminated the London Eye in red and gold. This was followed by a traditional Chinese Lion Dance in frount of the London Eye.

The following day, there were some traditional celebrations in Chinatown which included the LCCA lion dancers visiting various businesses to ward off the evil spirits and bring good luck for the coming year.

The main public celebrations were held on Sunday 2nd February, which was the third day of Chinese New Year. Huge crowds flocked into Central London to enjoy a parade from Trafalgar Square through Chinatown which was led by the God of Wealth and Chinese Dragon Dancers. After the parade, there was lot of entertainment for the crowds in both Trafalgar Square and around Chinatown including amazing Flying Lion Dancers. The day was brought to a close with a firework display in front of a packed crowd.
