Cuba

This album is a selection of images from Cuba taken during Steve Davey's "Impressions of Cuba" photo tour during February/March 2016.

Cuba is an interesting and diverse country which has been changing since Raúl Castro succeeded Fidel Castro president. More change is likely as the USA moves towards a closer and more friendly relationship with Cuba.

We started out in Havana before travelling west to Viñales where the tobacco used to make the world famous cigars is farmed. From there, we travelled south-east down most of the length of the country stopping at a number of cities before arriving at Santiago de Cuba. En route, the most picturesque city was Trinidad with it's beautiful old town and shops which just had open windows as counters into the streets.

Unfortunately, we didn't have much time in Santiago de Cuba as we had an early morning flight back to Havana. However, back in Havana we managed to take trips to Ernest Hemmingway's house and the fishing port of Cojimar, where he kept his boat and went fishing. In Cojimar, we even had lunch at La Terraza de Cojimar and Hemmingway's table in the corner is still set and reserved for him.

Of course, no trip to Havana would have been complete without visting La Bodeguita del Medio for a mojito and El Floradita for a Daiquiri - in the footsteps of Ernest Hemmingway.

Check out Steve's site at http://www.bettertravelphotography.com for information on his future photo tours. Steve is an excellent teacher and happily imparts his years of experience plus he is great fun to travel with. I definitely recommend his tours.
