My trip to Victoria, BC is almost over and tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be heading back from Vancouver Island to Vancouver airport and home to London. I have managed to see lots of cool stuff and the scenery is just so amazing around Victoria – when I am back in London I am sure that I’ll miss the open spaces and nature. Today, I was luck enough to see herons on the beach and the a deer in it’s natural habitat.
In additional to the nature, there is some amazing architecture in Victoria including the British Columbia Parliament Building pictured here. I am still going through my photographs from this trip and am planning to create a new gallery on my website in the next week or so. I guess that is going to depend on how jet lagged I am and how my other post processing/retouching progresses.

The weather has improved so much … Saturday has been sunny and warmer so I have been checking out the beautiful scenery an nature around Victoria, British Columbia. I am hope that this is the start of the summer here and I am going to have good weather for the rest of my short visit to Vancouver Island.
I visited the famous Butchart Gardens which are a few miles outside of Victoria. They are a series of amazing gardens which are individual in style and plenty of colour – these gardens include a huge sunken garden, rose garden, Japanese garden and Italian garden. Whilst I am not familiar with varieties of flowers and plants, they are so many different species which are beautifully arranged. I am still working through my photographs but I have processed this one (see right) which is a lovely red flower (sorry I don’t know its name) against a fountain in the sunken garden.
Saturday evening, I finished the day taking some pictures of the Parliament Building at sunset.

Well I am back in British Columbia, Canada! Last Saturday, we celebrated my best friend’s 50th birthday and it was a complete surprise to him that we turned up. Whilst I am here, I am taking the opportunity to take some more photographs of this beautiful place. In addition to the beautiful scenery, I took the camera to the go-karting and reminded myself how different shooting motor sport is … even if the karts only went at 25 mph.
Later this week, I am catching the ferry across to Vancouver Island and will be spending a few days in Victoria. It seems very odd that after the number of times we have visited Vancouver over the last 11 years, this will be the first time that I will have been to Victoria. My plan is to create a photo essay of the city and to seek out a story or two in the process. This is similar to my trip to Cairo a year or two back. I’ll create a new blog when the images of Victoria are posted to my site.
