Archive for March 2011

It is official … the Canon EF 8-15mm f/4 fisheye zoom lens has been delayed and there is no new release date.  I am not surprise especially after the huge earthquake they suffered which has badly affected Canon and Nikon.  Good luck to them getting their lives back to normal but it will take some time.

Here is the official press release in Japanese and translated into English.

Yesterday was another excellent day in the studio with a great model who was a pleasure to work with and hopefully we have created an amazing set of images.  Now I have to get on with the post processing along with finishing off last weekend’s shoot too.

I am confident that I will be able to complete all of the post processing but the time that I head off to Laos & Cambodia.

The only other photography that I am planning to do before then is our work Photography Club photo walk around the City on Tuesday.  I doubt that I will take too many photos because it is an opportunity to socialise and help others.

Just over a week to go …

26th March 2011

I cannot believe that my trip to Laos & Cambodia is just over a week away.  It seems to have crept up very quickly and I don’t feel that I have done enough resource about either country.  Fortunately, it is one of Steve Davey’s photo tours and he has been to these countries a number of times before.  Apart from my new Canon EF 8-15 f/4 fisheye zoom lens, I have everything I need for this trip.

Before the trip, I still have lots to do … another shoot shot this afternoon and completing the post processing for last week’s shoot shot as well as this afternoon’s.  Hopefully, I can get this all done by the end of the weekend.

It is only just over 2 weeks before I am off to Laos & Cambodia and I am still hoping to have a new Canon EF 8-15 f/4 Fisheye lens for the trip.  It was due to be available in March and might yet just make it before I go but with the tragic events in Japan I am think that it won’t.

Both Canon and Nikon still manufacturer their DSLR bodies and lenses in Japan and have been badly by the earthquake.  I hope that the impact on both Canon & Nikon staff and their operations is too bad.  Let’s hope that both companies are able to get back up and running soon.

I have finally managed to make a huge dent in my post processing queue and have completed last weekend’s studio shoot as well as the photographs from my skiing holiday at the beginning of February.

Normally, I carry a small “point & shoot” camera which I tends to stay in my pocket and I don’t end out with any pictures at all.  This time I decided to break with tradition and took my DSLR and a couple of lenses with me in a small camera backpack.  The results can be found in my Skiing in Chatel gallery.  Please let me know what you think.
